August 6, 2022, Ann Arbor, MI (1 min. read) — The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra’s new Music Director, Earl Lee, made his debut with the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Tanglewood Music Festival, conducting a program of Brian Raphael Nabors, Francis Poulenc, and Felix Mendelssohn on August 5, 2022.

Twins and virtuosic pianists Christina and Michelle Naughton joined Lee to make their Tanglewood debuts, performing Poulenc’s characterful Concerto for Two Pianos in D minor, FP 61. Nabors’ striking work Pulse comprises a study in experiential variety, and Mendelssohn’s transfixing Symphony No. 3 paints a sweeping picture of the composer’s travels through Scotland in 1829.

Lee’s debut adds another highlight to a brilliant stretch of recent accomplishments, including his appointment as the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra’s 14th Music Director, receipt of the 2022 Sir George Solti Conducting Award, and debut with the New York Philharmonic and San Francisco Symphony.
