Centennial Commissioning Club

Play a role of deep significance in helping the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra commission brand-new works leading up to our 100th Anniversary celebration in 2028! As a member of our brand-new Centennial Commissioning Club, your support enables the orchestra to engage with the leading compositional voices of today and contract and support the artist through every step of the creative process.

By joining the Centennial Commissioning Club (CCC), you’ll become part of a special group of supporters who are committed to artistic innovation and musical excellence. Your contribution will directly fund the commissioning of exciting new compositions, crafted specifically to celebrate a century of music-making. These works will premiere in our concert halls and reach audiences throughout Southeast Michigan and beyond, solidifying a legacy that both honors the past and embraces a vibrant artistic future. Your support will allow us to champion talented composers, give voice to their unique artistic perspectives, and keep classical music relevant and resonant.

Members of the CCC will enjoy unique benefits designed to bring you closer to the music, the artists, and the creative process. You’ll have behind-the-scenes access to composer interviews, insights into their creative process, and special private events for you and fellow CCC members (see below for our first featured event!). You’ll also be recognized in our program materials and donor literature as a supporting member of this mission-critical initiative.

SPECIAL EVENT FOR CCC MEMBERS: JOHNNY GANDELSMAN IN CONCERT

Grammy-winning violinist, producer, and 2024 MacArthur Fellow Johnny Gandelsman integrates a wide range of creative sensibilities into a style unique amongst today’s violinists. A founding member of Brooklyn Rider and a former member of the Silkroad Ensemble, Gandelsman joins the A2SO for a special one-night-only solo performance to celebrate the launch of the orchestra’s Centennial Commissioning Club.

Pioneer High School Choirs

The Ann Arbor Pioneer High School A Cappella Choir is one of four curricular and nine extra-curricular choral ensembles at Ann Arbor Pioneer High School, the 2006 & 2011 National GRAMMY® Signature School. The A Cappella Choir has performed at the American Choral Directors Association Central Division Convention (2014), American Choral Directors Association Michigan State Convention (2014 & 2018), Michigan Music Conference (2013 & 2018), and Michigan Youth Arts Festival (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 & 2017). In 2014 & 2015, they were selected as an Outstanding Choir and featured at the Gala Concert of the Michigan Youth Arts Festival. The Pioneer Choirs have collaborated with the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra and the Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings.
